About a year and a half ago, I was feeling rather motivated about my life and I was really interested in knowing what my 'purpose' was. To be honest, I was wondering if I was living up to God's standards and if I was fulfilling my destiny here on earth. What was I was supposed to do with all this 'stuff' that made a mark on my life and what did it teach me?!
So, in that frame of mind, I began to ask God "how can I use my gifts and talents for you"? Immediately, the idea of starting a magazine for teens came to mind and Promise for Teens Magazine was born!
As a teen I was very much into fashion and I loved buying Vogue each month! I also studied fashion design in Chicago for a short period. In addition to that, I have had the priviledge of working with youth for many years. It is so cool to see how God has put all the pieces of my past together to fulfill a purpose for him.
I guess you could say I have simple faith. I absolutely believe if you ask God something he will reveal it to you. The answer may not come when you expect it to or how you expect it to, but if you have faith, God will honor it.
I do not believe that anyone was born out of happenstance or by accident. Everyone was born 'on purpose' and 'for a purpose'. A purpose far greater that any of us could imagine. No matter what has happened to you or what you have done to yourself, YOU were created to do something incredible!
So with that, PFT will begin it's journey! I believe this magazine will touch many young peoples' lives for a greater purpose than I could ever imagine.
The goal for PFT magazine is to let young people use their voices to make a positive impact on their peers. It will also share personal experiences and insight from those of us who are more seasoned in life - as we have already "been-there-done-that"! We will also give you more than fashion advice and the latest Hollywood hook-ups!
In the past, I have worked along side some very talented and inspiring young people as well as some teens who were just searching for something more in life. My heart and one of my purposes is to reach out to teens and to let them know that they are special, there is hope, and that God truely loves them. It doesn't matter who you think you are, what matters is who God says you are and what he wants you to do with this special gift of life he has given to you.
Let's face it- most teens have already heard what not to do. I feel it's important to also share why. One thing I have learned to be true (sometimes the hard way) is that everything we do or don't do will have an effect on our future- there's no way out!
Unfortunatetly, life can be very heartbreaking at a very young age. I know, from personal experience, that when you've faced heartbreaks that it has a way of clouding your view. My life has been one of many twists and turns, hurts and healing, forgiveness and hope. When I reflect back to my childhood, the one thing that stands out to me is that the choices that were either made for me or by me have had a defining impact on who I have become. The decisions that are made from the ages of 12-20 will effect you in the future.
I hope that PFT magazine articles and information you read will inspire and challenge you to think outside the box! I also hope that you will realize that there is something much bigger and more profound than peoples' inadaquences. If you've already started making poor choices, don't give up! Second chances do exist.

I want to hear from you! If you would like to write an article for the magazine or have an idea, email me. I want an open dialogue with my readers- no one can argue with what you have experienced or how that experience has effected you. Together, we can reach out to teens all over the world. This generation needs to rise up and be the leaders this culture needs. There is so much more to life than what the world has to offer! Let's start a revolution!! Your Culture- Your Voice.
Knowledge is power!
